Sheffield EKF Karate Competition 17th May 2026

Sheffield Karate Competition 17th May 2026

On Saturday 17th May, students from Zen-Shin Martial Arts Academy travelled to Sheffield to compete in the EKF Children and Kyu Grade Karate Competition. The event brought together karateka from clubs across the country, giving students the opportunity to test themselves in both kata and kumite in a competitive environment.

The competition was a great experience for all involved, with students showing strong spirit, discipline, and determination throughout the day. For many competitors, it was a chance to gain valuable experience, build confidence, and perform under pressure in front of judges and spectators.

The club achieved some fantastic results on the day. William took 1st place in both kata and kumite, while Natalie, Ayaan, and Imaan all achieved 1st place in kata in their respective categories. Louis also won 1st place in kata, with David taking 2nd place in the same category. Daniel achieved 2nd place in kumite.

Gyan, Jaden, and Alex also competed in kata. Although they were not successful this time, it was valuable experience for them and a good opportunity to adapt to the new competition rules and format.

Regardless of results, all students represented the club well with excellent attitude and sportsmanship. Competing at events like these is an important part of development in karate, helping students improve not only their technical ability, but also their focus, resilience, and character.

A big well done to everyone who took part, and thank you to the parents, coaches, and supporters who helped make the day possible.
